In order to ensure the best possible fit, we highly recommend measurements be taken by either a professional tailor/seamstress or that you visit our showroom to get sized by a Joanna August sales associate. If for some reason you cannot get measured professionally, please follow these guidelines using a soft measuring tape. * Please make sure to keep the tape snug and not tight when measuring. Also, for the most accurate fit, we recommend that you measure over the same undergarments that you anticipate wearing under your dress.

Bust:  Measure around (NOT under) the bust and back. (The fullest part of your bust.)

Waist: Measure around your natural waist (the narrowest part of your waist). Breath in and out - do not suck in!

Hips:  Measure you lower hips, about 8"-9" down from your natural waist down. Stand with your feet together and measure around your backside (the fullest part of your hip).

Height: Please measure your height while wearing the shoes you plan to wear with your dress. * For dresses from the JOANNA AUGUST COLLECTION, we recommend ordering extra hem length if your height while wearing shoes is above 5'11". For CEREMONY COLLECTION dresses, we do NOT offer extra length, but our long dress styles are designed to accommodate heights up to 6'1". For taller clients ordering short styles, we recommend purchasing the long version and having the dress hemmed to your desired length.

After you have completed your measurements, refer to the size chart below and decide which size category you fall closest to. Please keep in mind that your usual size may not be the same size you normally wear when choosing a dress at Joanna August. If your measurements fall between two sizes, choose the larger size. It is always easier to take in than let out a garment when doing alterations. We highly recommend consulting with a Joanna August representative to help you choose which size will give you the best fit based on your measurements.

Please keep in mind, we do not provide alteration services. Our dresses are made-to-order using standard industry sizes. They are not custom-made to your specific size. Any necessary alterations must be made after you receive your dress by a seamstress or tailor of your choice. We are not responsible for any alterations made after you receive the garment from us.
