JA "FASHION TEAM" SEGMENT FOR TVGUIDE CHANNEL

A couple weeks ago, a team of producers (including the amazing, talented Sabrina Gruneberg) camera and lighting people, TV hosts (actually, just one host- the fun, beautiful and charismatic Daphne Brogdon!) and hair and make up people arrived at my studio to shoot a segment on my line for the "The Fashion Team" to air on the TVGuide channel. I'll admit, I was a little nervous as being in front of the camera has never been my thing. When I worked in film, I liked to keep so far behind the scenes that I preferred my desk at the production office to the trailer on set. When asked to be an extra on the last day shooting the last movie I worked on, I bashfully declined, automatically grouping it into the category of home video, karaoke and other forms of public performance which I simply always have been to embarrassed to bring myself to do.

Anyhow, when the TVGuide channel asked me to shoot this segment that would also feature the likes of Madonna, Reem Acra and one of my personal favorite new style icons, "So You Think You Can Dance" host (and jewelry designer) Cat Deely, I knew it was time to face my fear. After all, I had a bit of practice shooting a previous KABC segment and had just agreed to appear on a segment of a reality TV show (stay tuned for more details!) so now seemed as good a time as any to face my phobia of "lights, camera, action". Furthermore, I reasoned that this would just be me being me (which i am more than capable of doing, not generally being a shy person...except when there is a camera involved) discussing my line, the thing i am most passionate about. I didn't have to act and pretend to be someone else or sing and pretend to be a rock star. And so I dove in!

Now don't get me wrong- i am still no Cat Deely- a far cry from it. I have weird angles and don't know what to do with my hands and still can't get my self to "cheat the camera," but i am definitely a work in progress!

So without further ado, please check out my stint on "The Fashion Team." Don't judge too harshly...

KABC Wedding Trends- Airs 4/8 6:30am

Set your alarm and program your tivo because you don't want to miss KABC's Wedding Trends Segment with Joanna August & DailyCandy, airing tomorrow, Thursday April 8th at 6:30am on KABC Eyewitness News, Channel 7. The segment will air once in the morning and again in the evening- check back here first thing tomorrow for exact viewing times.

Filmed right here in our Los Angeles Flagship Salon, the segment features an interview with yours truly, Joanna August, as well DailyCandy's other favorite picks for this wedding season with Editor-at-large, Dannielle Kyrillos.
